Opening Reception Friday June 3. 6-8 PM
“As a photographer with a background in painting, I photograph details, shadows, and misplaced objects. I look to familiar forms and formal structures to describe my relationship to things within and around me. The tension between the disorder of my surroundings and my internal desire for pictorial order and beauty is crucial to my working process.”
Terri Bright is a fine art photographer whose work focuses on non-traditional beauty. With a background in painting, she uses the camera to create images of quiet, contemplative spaces. Born in Pennsylvania, Bright lived and worked in New York and Japan prior to attending graduate school in Austin. Her work has been included in numerous national exhibitions, and she currently teaches photography at Furman University in Greenville. Bright’s monograph Sonnets, was published by Flash Powder Projects (now Yoffy Press) in 2016.
