Women by Women
Elinor Carucci, Juror
3/1-3/31/25
The history of photography has a long tradition of representing women as subjects but has less to say about women as artists. Today, the roles of women in photography are both behind the camera and in front of it. Who understands women better than women? The female perspective offers an important view of the many facets of womanhood and women’s role in society.
Grace Weston: Reclaiming the Muse
2/1 - 3/30/25
In her series, RECLAIMING THE MUSE, she reframes historic artworks and stories in contemporary terms to challenge the dominant doctrine of the patriarchal culture through an intersectional feminist lens.
When centering women, historically cast as objects of beauty or scorn, she aims to revitalize the muse with agency, furthering the issues important to me as a contemporary female artist in my contemporary Western society. She also challenges narrow views of sexuality which operate to oppress and limit the broad nature of identity, self-expression and attraction.
